Legal Services Agency Limited, Scotland's National Law Centre, will be running a programme of seminars between January and June 2006.
LSA is not just one of Scotland’s major legal educators but also is a key source of legal research, advice and representation for those in disadvantage. For instance, LSA provides:
• free advice and representation in mental health detention cases from it’s Fleming House, Glasgow and Princes House, Edinburgh offices.
• free advice and representation in eviction cases.
• a free drop-in housing rights surgery at Greenock for Inverclyde residents.
• a free drop-in surgery at Fleming House, Glasgow on any legal matter most Wednesdays.
• a free telephone advice line to around 1,000 callers a year.
• freephone number for patients detained under the Mental Health (Scotland) Act.
• a comprehensive service for asylum seekers including a women’s unit.
• a new holistic service within North Glasgow Advice Centre along with outreach.
• a full casework service including litigation in all levels of courts and tribunals with a total of around 2,000 cases dealt with per annum.
• a service to, accordingly, over 7,000 individuals per annum.
