Breathing Places is the BBC initiative to promote wildlife-friendly
green spaces throughout the UK. The campaign is supported by the Big
Lottery Fund through a £10 million grants programme and phase three was
launched on 12 November 2007.
A breathing place is a green space that benefits wildlife and the local
community and the main aims of the programme are to make a lasting
improvement to the natural environment as well as to increase the number
and range of people making use of green spaces.
Groups can apply for between £1,000 and £10,0000 and up to £5 million is
available across the UK in this phase.
Please find attached the application and guidance materials to pass on
to groups in your area. Applications must be submitted by Friday 18 January 2008.
