Funding to Support Work with Dissaffected Young People
27 November 2007

Registered charities working with young people aged 11 to 25 are able to apply for funding for community projects through the Joanis Trust. The Trust is looking to help fund projects that offer intensive support to young people as well as those that promote preventative work and diversionary activities, including the use of art forms for their
therapeutic value, and specially those that are designed to lead to individual development through integration, work opportunities or accreditation.

The average size of a grant awarded by the Trust is £1,000, which can be used for project, core costs, and capital costs. Previous projects supported include a scheme which distributes tickets
to young members of the community who may never have a chance to see a live performance due to financial circumstances or to social exclusion; and the use of offshore sail training on traditional vessels as a way of changing attitudes and engaging disadvantaged and dissaffected young people. The next closing date for applications is the 31st December 2007.
