Where it all began...
In January 2007, young people from youth clubs around north Glasgow came together to design a NEW YOUTH WEBSITE for all young people, studying, working and socialising in the north of the city.

The initial development began when it was realised the young people of north Glasgow needed a community online to encourage links between youth clubs and to provide accessible information and advice.

Developing ngyouth's design...
Young people were asked to attend design workshops to create the look of the website. Artist and Designer, Brian Hartley, ran the workshop said,

"At the workshops we discussed ideas about design and logos that the young people were familiar with, and then made lots of designs and illustrations for the web logo. They really participated in the class, and created a wide variety of exciting, colourful design."

The initial designs (on the left) were then applied to a graphics programme to make them suitable for use online.

The original designs were framed and are now displayed in the Shakespeare Street Youth Club, Royston Youth Action, Princes Trust and the James McLean Project.

ngyouth's identity...
This design on the right by Kayleigh, from the James McLean Project, was selected to inspire the graphic designer who took the simple circle style and developed it into what we can proudly call our ngyouth website logo that you will see throughout the website.

We hope that www.ngyouth.co.uk will become even more exciting over the coming year and that many young people will become involved with new developments, as it is intended that this site will be made “by young people, for young people”.
