On the same side further up is perhaps the oldest building in Springburn, Balgray Tower. Known locally as Breeze's Tower after an early owner, it dates from the second quarter of the nineteenth century. Its battlemented roof and tower must have been given a panoramic view of the river and surrounding countryside and the city that engulfed it.
