What does the course consist of?
With Cisco IT Essentials (Leading to CompTIA A+) the focus is on gaining employment within the competitive IT Industry.
The fundamentals of computer hardware and software as well as IT advanced concepts.
Learners who complete this course will be able to describe the internal components of a computer, assemble a computer system, install an operating system, and troubleshoot using system tools and diagnostic software.
Learners will also be able to connect to the Internet and share resources in a network environment. New topics included in the new version of this course include laptops and portable devices, wireless connectivity, security, safety and environmental issues, and communication skills.
Hands-on lab activities are an essential element of the course. In support of this, practical “real life” and virtual learning tools are integrated into the course.
The course is divided into two sections:
Foundational knowledge that aligns with the CompTIA A+ Essentials exam, while the second section explores advanced concepts in greater depth and provides opportunities for practical application. Upon completion of IT Essentials, learners are given the opportunity to sit exams required for the A+ Essentials/IT Technician certification.

Core competencies in the latest hardware and software technologies Information security skills Safety and environmental issues Soft skills for career development Advanced troubleshooting skills Prepares for all three CompTIA job environments certification exams Advanced installation of computers, peripheral devices, networks
Learners will also take part in employment related activities such as CV preparation, interview skills, presentation skills, group work and job search. These are prerequisites to successful completion of the course and full participation is required from all learners.

Do I need any necessary qualifications/experience to apply?
Highly motivated and reliable individuals who are able to demonstrate good timekeeping, commitment and attendance. The ability to demonstrate reliability, good communication skills, an interest in IT are more important requirements than any previous IT experience.
Are there any desirable skills/qualifications? No formal prerequisites, but some knowledge of computers and it IT industry
