This was a potentially difficlt fixture for Blochairn but an excellent double by Mark Mc Donnell and a goal each for strikers Gerry Hughes and Paul Clayton were reward for an outstanding team performance by the league leaders.
Mark Mc Donnell opened and finished the scoring and the big man went on to have a great game, his first was a stike from 25 yards and for his second on 85 minutes he ran the length of the park before nut megging the goalie.
Gerry Hughes nothed his 27th of the season which is an incredible return considering he was out for 4 weeks with suspentions. He beat the offside trap and made it look easy as he made it 2-0. The scoreline remained the same until half time.
Shortly after the restart Paul Clayton made it 3-0, a goal that was richly deserved as he had given the Clydebank men problems all day and on another occassion may have nothed more. The goal was also reward for the patience the young striker has shown having been on the bench for most of the last month.
Blocahirn passed Clydebank off the park in the second half and although it was potentially difficult Blochairn were impressive from start to finish. Clybank Thistle went into this fixture knowing that a win for them coupled with a Windalw win would see them stay in the top division, they will need to wait for another week although after playing both recently, Forest will give them a run for their money.
There was a significance in yesterdays results however as Blochairn will now finish above the leagues top club for the second season runnning and any team who fininsh above Windlaw will be there or there abouts. Wether we we cAn win the title for a second succesive season will be determined in our last 2 fixtures - against second placed Tynecastle and the Castlemilk men who are in 3rs. We could not have picked more difficult fixtures although we will be confident especially if we can maitain the type of form shown today
