Blochairn Star travel to Castlemilk on Saturday for our last game of the season to face a Windlaw team who will be suffering after one of their heaviest defeats in recent years at AS Airdrie. As it stands a Blochairn victory will not gaurentee a second succesive title and it looks like all AS Airdries games will be played midweek.
Blochairn had been scheduled for no fixture but a Tynecastle appeal against the St Marys resultmeans that Windlaw are now available for their only remaining fixture. Airdries consistency in both cup competitions has led to a fixture pile up and with the cup games taking priority for the Saturday games Blochairn will need to wait and see. This is not an ideal situation but we only have ouselves to blame for our dismal cup performances.
AS Airdrie are in Tommy Marshall duty against Scotsman on Saturday, the league cup final is scheduled for the 17th and the Tommy Marshall quarter final on the 24th. It is also anticipated the the Tommy Marshall final will be scheduled for 31st of May (with a semi final in the same midweek) there are no Saturday left in May for any league fixtures. Therefore, if Airdries excellent form continues past Scotsman and into subsequent rounds the league will need to find room for six midweek league fixtures before .31st of May (as stated in the constitution) ......and Rangers thought that they had it hard :)
A Blochairn victory on Saturday would mean that maximum points would be needed by Airdrie in their remaining 6 fixtures although we have not beaten Windlaw for 3 season - so it will be very difficult.
The League Cup finalists midweek fixtues:- Clydebank United (A), Greenhills Dynamo (A), Tynecastle (A), Hogganfeild (A), Shawbridge(?) and Hogganfield (H).
All of the Magaluf 10 returned unscathed but Zander is definately still out and will be joined by Cunny who is on holiday. Otherwise we should have a full squad.
