Our Services
Glasgow North ESF Project is a training and rehabilitation project for people who have experience of or who are recovering from mental ill health.
We offer counselling and support and deliver core skills along with vocational training and personal development. The project is longstanding having been in existence for over 15 years and our main office is based in Maryhill with various other training sites located in the North and West of the city.
The aim of the project is to help people build their confidence, develop their skills and access life chances they may have previously been denied due to their ill health which will help them move on with their lives. At the end of their time with us we hope to have given our trainees the personal and communication skills necessary to cope confidently with day to day life as well as skills that they can apply in the workplace or in their studies.
We hope that trainees who attend our project will move on to one of the following positive destinations:

We are based at a number of sites in the Maryhill district of Glasgow, though we accept referrals from all over the Greater Glasgow area.
Our main site is at Hathaway Business Centre, 21 - 29 Hathaway Street, Glasgow G20
Hathaway Street is very near to Maryhill Shopping Centre, and not too far from the Maryhill Health Centre (about a quarter of a mile closer to the city centre).

We also have sites at Firhill Road map, beside Partick Thistle's stadium and at Gartnavel Hospital map.

Core Skills
Core Skills and Personal & Social Development will involve a variety of group work sessions where the areas of communication, confidence, motivation, assertiveness, stress management and literacy and number skills can be explored.
Individuals can work at their own pace and be responsible to a large extent for their own learning and development.
There is no pressure on the individual during the course and supervision and expert guidance is, available from all staff.
Amenity Horticulture
This part of our project is based at Gartnavel Royal hospital.
Training involves:
Fencing slabbing gardening greenhouse work the laying out of sport grounds Qualifications on offer include SVQ Levels 1 & 2 in Amenity Horticulture.
Training will also be given in assisting and preparing land for sowing Establishing and Laying of turf Routine pruning Health and Safety guidance
Picture Framing
Based at Firhill Road, Maryhill
Training is provided in framing paintings, photographs and posters.
This department is designed to appeal to those who are interested in creating individual pictures, photographs and posters to their own specification.
A stained glass class also runs on a Thursday, giving the basics in stained glass design and production.
This course can also be combined with any other training area.
Woodwork
Based at Hathaway Street near the Maryhill shopping centre.
This area provides training in the production of all kinds of products including small items of furniture, garden equipment, and toys.
The training provides an opportunity to develop your skills in the use of hand tools, hammers and saws also included is the use of some power tools.
Core skills Developed is implemented in this department.
During the training courses a work experience job placement may be accessed.
Information Technology
Based at Firhill Road just a few yards from Partick Thistle's football stadium.
This area provides training in basic computing skills including: Basic Wordprocessing, Basic Spreadsheets and the use of the Internet and web searching.
Qualifications on offer at present include
The European Computer Driving Licence(ECDL) and a range of SQA Units
