Overview

The purpose of this course is to allow you to learn about the different components that make up a personal computer using theory and practical lessons.

Topics covered include:

-Tower / Desktop case - Which case to use and why

- Motherboards - An introduction to the many different motherboards available

- CPU - An introduction to the differences between AMD and Intel processors

- CPU Coolers - Which cooler to use and why

- Hard Drives - An introduction to IDE, SATA and SCSI drives and Raid arrays

- RAM / ROM Memory - An introduction to PC100 up to DDR2 RAM and ROM use

- BIOS - What is BIOS? And how to Set up a PC via BIOS

- AGP - Learn about the AGP port and why you should use it

- PCI - An introduction to the spare slots on the back of your machine

- Cabling - How to connect it all together properly and safely

- Home networking - Correct installation and configuration of router / wireless networking

- Operating System Installation - Installing MS Windows and Linux

Candidate profile
