What does the course consist of?
70-271 Supporting Users and Troubleshooting a MS Windows XP OS
Describe the role and the key skills of a desktop support technician (DST) and the different environments they work in? Describe the concepts of user accounts, user profiles and user rights and resolve logon issues. Identify and resolve system configuration and security issues. Identify and resolve network connectivity issues. Identify and resolve hardware issues. Identify and resolve file and folder issues. Identify and resolve print issues. Identify and resolve startup issues.
70-272 Supporting Users and Troubleshooting Desktop Applications on a MS Windows XP OS
Explain how to use troubleshooting guidelines and tools to support users running applications on Windows desktops. Troubleshoot application compatibility and security issues related to applications on client PCs that run Windows XP. Support MS Internet Explorer. Troubleshoot issues related to Outlook. Support MS Office.
Throughout the course candidates will be given employability support and learning opportunities for skills required by employers.

70-271 Prerequisites
Basic Experience of MS OS such as Windows XP Basic understanding of MS Office applications and MS Windows accessories, including MS Internet Explorer Basic understanding of core OS technologies, including installation and configuration. Basic understanding of hardware components and their functions. Basic understanding of the major desktop components and interfaces and their functions Basic understanding of TCP/IP settings Basic experience of command line utilities for managing the OS Basic understanding of technologies that are available for establishing internet connectivity.

Attended 70-271 Course Experience using MS Office as a general user Experience using MS OS such as MS Windows XP
What qualifications will I be awarded with on completion of the course? MCDST certification
