Get Ready For Work (R003)

What does the course consist of?
This is a 6 week retail vocational skills programme that covers the core principles of retail:

  • Customer service
  • Selling Skills
  • Brand Awareness
  • Store Design / Layout
  • Commerciality
  • Mystery shop
  • Team work
  • With additional focus on employability skills

The programme also features a 2 week practical work placement with a high street retailer.
As part of the programme there is a session run by Strathclyde Police covering personal safety, handling complaints and dealing with shoplifters.

 

How long will the course last?
6 weeks – Monday-Friday 9.30am - 4pm

Retail Academy, 2nd Floor Buchanan Galleries Glasgow City centre

What is the accessibility of the building?
There is wheelchair access

 How much will it cost?
Eligible clients should be aged between 16years old and 18 years old
Clients who are currently unemployed and not engaged in formal education or school leavers can access a place on the programme by registering with either Careers Scotland or  via a youth employment advisor

qualifications/experience to apply?
No Formal qualifications.  Interested parties will be invited along to an information taster day.

What qualifications will I be awarded with on completion of the course?
Trainees will be awarded a retail academy certificate at a presentation lunch.

What happens after I have completed the course?
There is a structured aftercare that will allocated one-one time for support into employment and also further employability support
