On the south corner of Keppochhill Road and Springburn Road, stands what once was Springburn Fire Station. Now converted into private flats, the station was originally opened in 1893 costing £4000, it included married quarters for 10 men. However, the building was designed to cope with horse drawn pump wagons, and so as time went on, it was necessary to build a new facility that could cope with more modern engines. The new fire station is located further south, in Midton Street, off Petershill Road. |
